Polaris report for the first quarter of 2021: Motorcycle sales up 31% / Motorcycle News / BikePost
Polaris Industries reports significant growth in motorcycle sales in early 2021. In total, across all departments, sales increased by 31 percent! The statistics include sales of Indian motorcycles and Slingshot vehicles, as well as related accessories and parts.
Revenue from sales was $ 165.6 million – significantly higher compared to $ 126.6 million in 2020. The motorcycle segment posted a gross profit of $ 8 million compared to a loss of $ 1 million in the first quarter of last year. Slingshot sales also showed good growth in positive territory.
In North America, sales were particularly good, and in India, the growth was 60 percent! Despite such positive growth rates, there are some concerns about maintaining such dynamics, since there is a shortage of stocks in dealerships! Polaris estimates dealer inventory is down 40% from the first quarter of last year. This is due to production restrictions and logistics problems.
